In a moral panic, no
one is safe. Neighbors turn on neighbors, and opportunists use the
panic to advance their careers. To survive the hysteria, you must be
smart.
Last week I wrote an article titled “When Does ‘No’ Actually Mean ‘No’?” to help you stay smart and safe without having to hole up in a bunker and outwait an age of ambiguity and fear around sex. Today, I want to talk about survival during a general moral panic.
You may have come of age during the ‘rape culture’ witch-hunt. So this might be your first such experience with moral panic. Yet hysterias like this are a fixture of civilization.
A moral panic is a big fear that snakes through society, egged on by crusaders and amplified by the media. In a moral panic, an opportunistic minority become inquisitors in a grab for power. Meanwhile the rest of the population hunkers down and tries to wait out the storm. The few who try to fight back early on are often crushed.
Moral panics turn neighbor against neighbor. They do this by encouraging one man to condemn another for his own protection. If you accuse your neighbor of being a witch, surely you must not be one yourself.
So how do you survive a moral panic? Are you forced to keep your
head down and hope no one fingers you as a boogeyman? Should you join
the mob and gang up on others until the
whole thing blows over, then pretend it never happened?
As I’ll lay out, these are the last things you want to do... Because they leave you defenseless against any accusations leveled against you.
Instead, you must seek to actively define yourself. You must make your identity so clear that the idea of accusing you seems not only pointless, but foolish.

This is brilliant perspective, reaching far beyond the realm of the 'seduction (i.e. efficiently and gracefully meeting/bedding many women/partners as one wishes)' premise of this site, yet still basically including that indirectly here as well. It could be said that 'moral panic' also includes that efficient and graceful meeting of partners, where the level of panic/outrage in the current era/times differs a bit depending on the age, marital/partnered status, sexual preference etc. of the person involved.
In the big scheme of things, time is always the cure for a particular moral panic to pass; however, that amount of time often too long over a particular person's lifetime, as can be seen in the previous condemnation of the homosexuals in past generations, at least in the Western world. I think your article basically advises how to handle the panic as best as possible within the time frame that the panic exists.
It's because of your information like this and other articles here which helps viewers grow, not only to achieve the purpose of the main premise of this website, but also to grow in other areas of life outside of love/sex life that I find value, definitely worth the subscription fee and almost like a small investment for my self-improvement.
Cheers!

Societies go through all kinds of changes on what sex/dating information is allowed. A place like this website would not be permitted most places a few hundred years ago. It may not be permitted most places a few hundred years from now, either. Time always cycles through.
Most advanced societies discourage hooking up, premarital sex, basically anything other than husband-wife monogamy, at least out in the open, most of the time. So we’re kind of in a weird little blip of history where we can teach and discuss this stuff in the open and not have it shut down. Wonder how long it will last for…

Argument
"Learn the zeitgeist and be prepared to demonstrate, in as loud a voice as possible, how your accuser violates the morality of the day while you remain a paragon of its virtues."
So in today's world, do you mean that one needs to be able to argue why they are a better intersectional feminist crusader than anyone else? That arguing for the upholding of classic American values of free speech, due process, Liberalism, etc. is pointless? If I just can't bring myself, morally, to become a redder-than-red Red Guard, would you suggest I pack my bags? (Btw, what countries do you think are most immune to the SJW panic while still being nice places to live? I'd rather not live in third-world Russia or an Islamist state).
Second question: in your opinion, is the current moral panic in the USA beginning to die down, or just getting started?
Arguing Values, Current Moral Panic Trends
Nate-
Not exactly. You need to be able to argue in the realm of believability. You’d need to be an absolute pro to argue you are a better feminist as a man than an overweight chick with short blue hair and a nose ring, even if you work at Mizzou and chair the Women’s Studies Department.
Instead, you want to portray yourself as the champion of the underlying values the movement is based upon. For instance, feminism is built upon equal rights. It’s very easy to argue against feminism now because many third wave feminists actually push for female supremacy and work to shut down debate. If you’re attacked by a feminist, odds are she wants you to shut up and do what she says. Her actions are the very antithesis of equality – she fights for supremacy. So, in a debate, all you’d do is continually highlight her desire to shut down debate, shut people out, and destroy the legacy the founders of feminism built. You’d redefine her as not a feminist, but a moral busybody who wants to take us back to pre-feminism times. And just keep stressing those points until she cracks.
As to your second question, by my analysis, the political correctness moral panic the U.S. has been in the grip of for the last three decades or so is in its death throes. Variety of reasons I say that:
Moderate people openly distance themselves from moral crusaders (before, they just kept their mouths shut out of fear of being labeled)
People have en masse begun to openly speak out against shaming, censorship, and thoughtcrime, and are growing increasingly angry about these things
Crusaders have begun to push for laws to limit speech (e.g., “hate speech” laws), which is a tacit admission that the effort to influence society has failed and they’ve turned to trying to legislate their mores before they’re shoved out of power
The media has turned the spin on so hard that readers/viewers are in outright rebellion against it; it’s almost impossible to read an article in a mainstream media publication without choking on spin right now
The populist candidates in the presidential election (Trump and Sanders) have received a huge groundswell of support, in total defiance to almost everything the media writes about them or establishment politicians say about them
The politically correct have allowed their beliefs to become rules that hamstring them and make them look like they’re in denial, like Obama’s / Clinton’s refusal to say “radical Islam”, which gives their opponents power
Crusaders / True Believers have become outright violent toward the opposition, which pushes moderates away from them. If the moral panic was on firmer ground, the violence would intimidate moderates into shutting up and letting the crusaders take charge, but because the panic is on its way out, the violence is causing a backlash that leads to mass condemnation of these groups and moderate individuals abandoning them
That said, I think we are seeing the rise of a new set of moral panics, largely as a backlash to the last 30 years of political correctness, globalism, and open elite control of democracy:
All these are in the beginning stages where core groups are very vocal with them, and they’ve begun to unseat the prevailing narratives and win increasing numbers of people to their side.
Whether they will be as extreme, more extreme, or less extreme than the previous moral panic I have no idea. I suspect it will be down to the economy: if it improves, these moral panics will not be too bad. If it deteriorates, they could get worse.

Thanks
Thanks for the great, in-depth reply Chase! Also, your first paragraph had me laughing hard.
I needed this.
I needed this.
It's the most vital piece for working in environments where people are power hungry.
Thank you.
