I started noticing this variability just of recent as an Intermediate.
I started improving my game as a teen and I would beat myself up a lot; maybe I should have done this, maybe I should have done that. But then as I got better and older I realized that there is only so much you can do; in fact, this is true for almost everything in life.
Sometimes you do everything right and still don’t get the girl. Other times you do everything wrong and get the girl. Some you win, some you lose, life goes on. Don’t get bitter, don’t get depressed. Try again with someone else. Women are different.
