porn addictionI've had a few folks write in recently asking about pornography addiction and excessive masturbation. It's not really a subject I've been especially excited about broaching... I mean, who really wants to talk about watching other people do the deed on video while giving himself a hand?

But a few friends who've dealt with this have shared their experiences with me and suggested that I write about it, because they felt it was something that very much negatively affected them when they were in it and they thought this site was one with a wide enough audience that I'd be doing some good talking about it, and could reach a fair number of men.

I even had forwarded along to me by Genaro in customer service an email from a reader who used the contact form to send in what amounted to a full-length sales letter custom written just to urge me to write about this, because it was something he'd gone through and he felt I could really help some people by addressing it on a larger platform.

So, since it seems to be what the people want... let's talk about porn addiction: what causes it, how it sucks you in, why it's bad, and how to break its hold on you.

I have to be the dissenting voice as I find all of this kind of weird. I've watched porn most of my life and at times was probably close to addicted. However, I've never even come close to not wanting a women because of it. Hell if anything watching porn has always made me want women more, not less. If I were a conspiracy theorist I would say this is the first blow of the Pick Up Artist industry throwing shots at the Porn industry and a war is on the horizon lol.

I still watch porn today I wouldn't say I'm addicted to it as I don't watch it every day. I may go 3 or 4 days before I get an urge to want to watch it. I certainly have never had a problem getting it up for a woman, but there is one thing that makes me think I should give it up. The guy who said it caused some premature ejaculation problems for him. I've been dealing with that lately myself. Have you heard of there being a connection with porn and PE Chase?

Same here. Porn never caused me problems, sexual or other. So I don't really identify with this "porn-skeptic" rhetoric. But at the same time, I can't be hating on those who talk about addiction or any of that, because they may be truly ruining their lives because of it. Not everyone handles these things in the same way.

So I read your post, and its kind of scary this shrinking of certain areas of the brain.

it said something along the lines of : these working memory changes are known in other substance addictions and alcoholism.

Would this shrinkage of the brain be the case in all addictions?

like for example caffein addiction?

I have been addicted to playing games when I was younger, I used to also smoke cigarettes when I was younger, and porn, and caffeine for a long time.

I have tried to quit porn and also caffein but these things seem to be hard to kick.

Is it possible that all these addictions lead to this shrinkage in the brain of your WM and your capacity to resist addictive behaviors?

Also, Chase, when are you going to post new articles yourself, or post some new content. You are a great teacher, love to read more from you!

What about watching porn without masturbating? IS it still bad? I believe that if i watch porn without masturbating, my brain will remove the link between porn and sexual fulfillment. So i will start to look at real women to satisfy me.

I have been trying this for about a week now, porn without masturbating. Now when i look at porn i do not get as turned on as i would usually. Is this good or bad?

I liked article as well, I probably could get the object of my sexual desire, make her real. I kind of like the reclusiveness and solitariness it gives me at the moment. But at my age now, I'll watch a video, watch how the guy is treating the girl, but I now wonder how I would treat her and feel about her at the same time. Its really strange, because I have a feeling now attached to what I'm viewing for her. Its a bit reversed because I know what the consequences of being in a sexual relationship is like, what stuck in a marriage feels like. So some times it rekindles desire for other women you knew or felt you couldn't have. I knew the urge was particularly strongest during my relationship.

Hi, I've found i can go days without masturbating (and i don't watch porn) anymore but i read a study that said masturbation or having sex reduces the risk of prostate cancer by a third in men. Should i still masturbate say once a week because of this study?. Are there any health risks to going a long time without any "release"?
