how to know what I want??
I don't know what I want or what to do with my life.
Normal
Hey Razor,
It's normal to be confused about what you want or what to do with your life. It's very common, and in my experience those moments of intense confusion have usually led to a major breakthrough once I resolved what was confusing me. As long as not knowing isn't completely paralyzing you, it's fun to explore. However, if it's a paralyzing question that makes a person stuck in limbo, then this can be quite damaging.
My suggestion to you is to try this exercise: take a paper and a pen, and draw two lines to split the paper into four quadrants. In each quadrant, you will write one of each of the following:
- What I hope to achieve and do in my life
- What I am skilled and good at (regardless of money or enjoyment)
- What earns me money (regardless of enjoyment)
- What I enjoy (regardless of money) - this can include vices too
After you've written those down, spend about 30 minutes filling in your quadrants as fast as you can. You should do this with zero distractions - put away the phone, and lock yourself in a room or a quiet area if you have to.
After you've finished filling out the list, take a look at it and meditate on everything you're written down. Do you see any patterns? Do you see any connections between the items in the quadrants? Do you have any realizations about what you're written down. Make sure to write everything down.
The only person who can decide what you want is you! I hope this will get you started. :)
