In late-stage civilizations, the wealthy vacuum up the farmland and kick people off the farms. Without a means for self-support, society increasingly shifts toward feudalism \/ debt bondage. In the US right now, the wealthy have been buying up farmland en masse at the same time that the companies that supported small towns have all fled overseas. The countryside is filled with broken, unemployed\/unemployable older people and hopeless younger people dying of fentanyl overdoses. Most small rural towns are dying, with very few young people there, because there is simply no future there for them.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EThis effect happens everywhere that is wealthy and urbanized, and has happened repeatedly over the last 7,000 years (just like in ancient Mesopotamia, which at one point 4,500 years ago had its population as heavily concentrated in urban areas, with the countryside left just as empty, as the US\u2019s today).\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EAncient Chinese wisdom is \u201cin times of disorder, flee to the countryside.\u201d The Bible has similar advice, with Luke 21:21 telling those in the city to flee to the mountains, and those outside the city not to go into it.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EBut then the question is, \u201cWhat\u2019s your plan in the countryside?\u201d The US countryside is far from a safe haven. Between meth and fentanyl, you have all kinds of addicts committing all kinds of crimes (the frequency of addict criminality in the countryside is actually pretty staggering. Maybe it\u2019s not as bad if you get far enough away from trailer parks\u2026 but even in the very remote parts, you have highwaymen setting up traps on lonely roads for unsuspecting travelers, often by either blocking the road with a truck or having a woman standing by asking for help as bait). If you\u2019ll be living alone in the country, I suppose it\u2019s okay if you\u2019re a loner and just want to enjoy nature. If you\u2019re taking a woman, is she down with that \/ also a loner who wants just nature? If raising a family, is that the best opportunity for children\u2026 a place with no jobs, no hope, few peers for them to interact with, and high drug abuse \/ overdose problems? (maybe it still is; teach them to work online, raise them outside the cities so they aren\u2019t as affected by modern social ails, find a place that doesn\u2019t have trailer parks filled with fentanyl addicts anywhere nearby, etc.)\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EFor most young men, the opportunity is going to be in the cities: that\u2019s where all the women are (mating opportunities), where all the jobs are (economic opportunities), all their peers are (social opportunities).\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EThe other problem is that as society crumbles, the lawlessness in the countryside gets worse. At least with countryside crime right now, it\u2019s mostly addicts breaking into houses when they think no one\u2019s home, or traps on dark country roads you can avoid if you know what you\u2019re dealing with. When things get worse, these criminals get bolder and better organized, because you have a central government\u00a0strong enough to prevent competitors emerging within its borders (i.e., some nascent new government that is tough on local crime; e.g., \u201cThe Republic of West Alabama\u201d \u2014 that would get nipped in the bud right quick by the central US government before it could even get going), but not strong enough to prevent crime in the countryside. Meanwhile, the wealthy will still continue to buy up land in the countryside, preventing any kind of countryside revitalization, and the central government will enforce these people\u2019s claims, which keeps most people off the land and forces everyone into the cities to find work.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EIt\u2019s why when you look at late-stage civilizations, they don\u2019t just depopulate in their cities. They depopulate EVERYWHERE\u2026 city and countryside alike. Arable land falls fallow and outlaws proliferate. So when I hear a female friend say I matched with a 6ft4 guy who is into martial arts he sounds like fun - it irritates me because I\u0027m like well \u0027I\u0027m pretty sure they value these other traits more\u0027 but they match a good looking guy or very tall guy and they are excited to meet him.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EI want to be attractive enough so that women feel this same way more instantly. I\u0027ve had good success by improving fundamentals and bedding women. The difference is it takes me longer to flip attraction triggers.
